I am a new member and would like to communicate with anyone who has been diagnosed with squamous cell carcenoma in their nasal cavity. I have had 4 surgeries in last year and half- all with postive SCC in situ. Most cancer was found in a non inverted papilloma. I had my septum removed last year and half a turbinate on this surgery in April. Please share if you have had anything similar. Thanks!

Terry, I have not had the exact surgery, but I have had my maxilla (upper jaw) on the right side, along with about half of the hard palate on that side, removed due to SCC on the gums, which had spread to the palate. In my surgery, I also had a turbinate removed. Now I have to wear an obturator to close the opening in my hard palate. Is any of this similar to your situation? Have you had all of your surgery through the nostrils, or have you had to have part of your hard palate removed to get to the areas affected by the SCC?

PS--I know Gulf Breeze quite well...many happy family memories from summer trips to the area.

Donna,

It may help all responders and you as well if you edit your Signature line to include basic facts of your cancer and Tx so far. See mine and Colleen's as an example.

My cancer was BOT and 2 nodes and I didn't have any surgery so at this point I can't help you. I hope that there are others that can but I don't remember any posters that have had a similar Dx.

Hi- Fun to hear someone knows about Gulf Breeze. I have only had surgury though nostrils. My nose looks fine on outside and was not painful the first 3 surgerys but last one caused sore throat and ear ache. My throat is still sore after 3 weeks. I have been to MD Anderson twice for consults- had surgerys here with good ENT. Looks like radiation may be plan to nasal cavity this summer. I know no one who has had anything like this and would like to find someone. Glad to hear you are 2 years out. Will work on my signiture line.

Hi Donna,

My Name is Cindy I was diagnosed with stage 2 Squamous Cell Carcimoma of the Nasal Cavity & Sinus November 2005.It is a rare form of cancer. There arent to many of us. I did have major reconstructive surgery. After surgery I had 6 weeks of weekly Taxol/Carboplatin Chemo and 30 days of radiation. I am over 2 years out of treatment and my scans have been clear. Please email me at my home adress [email protected]. I would love to hear from you. I have only been able to communicate with 3 other people in the U.S. with this cancer.

Cindy
