I saw the surgeon that will assist with the implants this morning at 8. He put me thru the paces LOL.. He says this OC Ihave is unique. THat made me feel so much better LOL


Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.

Hi Jim,

Can you elaborate more about what he said?
What does he think is going on and his plan for the implants?

Dad had oral lichens planus, and oral leukoplakia before T2 SCC,2 nodes.
DX10/23/03
IMRT 12/29/03.30 rad,3 boost.
Brachytherapy 3/8-3/11/04.
Recurrence Nov07 Stage IV.
4 Surgeries
No rads, no chemo
I have oral lichens planus,
thrush,leukoplakia 2/20/08
6/2/08 biopsies "inflammation"

Well Deb, He said they will take me to the Operating room. make small incisions in my chin and then put plastic tubes thru the incisions and into my tongue,. Then I will be taken down to XRAY to make sure they have the tubes in the right location. I will then be taken upstairs to the far end of the Hospital to an isolated room and surrounded by lead shields. They will then put the pellets in the tubes and the next thing I should remember is 3 days later or maybe 4 days. Sometime after I will be discharged to go home if everything is OK.
