My sister is 2 weeks done with her treatments for squamous cell throat cancer. They found it in her tonsil. She is SO depressed she can barely get out of bed. She is in so much pain and can barely swallow her own spit. Any suggestions on how to make her feel alittle better and when she might start feeling better physically? Does anyone know of support groups in the chesapeake virginia area for her?

Thanks so much.

Is your sister two weeks into treatment, or did she complete it two weeks ago? If she finished two weeks ago, she is into the most difficult portion, but will start feeling better very soon. The 2-3 weeks after are very trying, and very depressing. Things will get better very soon.

Yall may also want to ask her doctors about some pain management. Rob is correct, the two weeks after finishing are typically the worst.

Hi, is this patient Angie by any chance? If so, please give me a call. 757-675-9737.

There is a support group at EVMS, I think it meets on Mondays. Ask Dr. K if this is Angies sister.

Love,
Minnie

Lost my mother, Minnie, to Oral Cancer October 29th, 2008. I am so thankful she had the OCF to help her through her five year struggle.
