I used to have a perfect set of teeth now I only have my bottom teeth the front four are turning black. My dentist said after all of my treatments and what ever then he can fix my teeth. Why is that? Has anyone elses teeth turned black? I do brush and floss. And the horrible taste in my mouth what can I do to get rid of that? Any ideas? Thanks Brenda

Brenda,
I may have missed something so I'm going to ask you a couple of questions.
1. Have you had any radiation or chemo therapy treatment yet?
2. Do you see a dentist regularly and how often?
3. When did you first notice the teeth turning "black"? Did your dentist take x-rays since this occurred?
4. Is the bad taste sort of a metallic taste and does it seem to be coming from the darkened teeth?
5. Do any of the dark teeth have "root canals"?

If you can answer some of these questions I may be able to help you or steer you in the right direction for diagnosis and treatment.

Cheers,

Mike

I haven't started radiation or chemo yet we are still in the testing to see what is what. I went to the dentist first becase my teeth are loose and turning black, he saw a leision and sent me to the ENT. The Ent did a biopsy came back positive sent me to John B Amos Cancer Center who sent me for a barrium swallow test and a cat scan. Results showed a second larger mass and therefore sent me back to the ENT for a larenscopy? Spelling is bad. I go in Monday the 10th for that. I see the radiologist Friday for the first time.. The taste seems to be coming from the back of my teeth as well as the back of my throat. My tounge feels like and taste like rust. From what I saw on the xrays I do have roots but on of my teeth I can almost spin around in my mouth. I feel like I have blisters all over my tounge but when I look I don't see any. Also my tounge looks dark to me. I go back to see my onocologist on Thursday and boy do I have a ton of questions for him. Did I answer any of your questions? I am sorry for rambling but I guess you can tell I am scared. Thanks Brenda
