I am just a little more than 6 months out. Now have concern about red sore on left side of tongue! How can this be? This sore was check in June. No problem, now sore is still there and is giving me the same feelings I had back in 2004. Sore is tender to touch, RED, also hurts when drinking something cold. Also mouth feels inflamed. I just had 6 mo. Ct. all clear. But I guess the tongue does not show? or does it? I called Head & Neck and talked with Nurse, she will call me Monday to see about having me come in to take another look at it. I am trying to keep my head on streight and not jump to conclusions. I must admitt I just do not want to do an instant replay! I am just now getting on my feet again as most of you know. AM I GUN SHY ? YOU BET! Thanks, Diane

Make your ENT schedule you for a biopsy to put your mind at ease. We are all frightened by the least little unusual thing in or around our original cancer sight. Darrell

Never heard back from Nurse. So I guess she got busy. I do go back on Sept. 7 to see oncologist will have it checked then. I also have CT for that day too along with blood work. If this is a sore only as most of you think. What do you suggest to help heal it? Soda/Salt/water? I am trying to keep my cool Darrell But as you say we get alittle touchy when it is around our cancer site. On a good note, I am feeling a lot stronger & and trying to eat different things. (if they do not hurt or sting) Thank you all for your support. If I find out anything different I will let you know. Diane

I did get in to see my Head & Neck Surgeon Sept.. 7th.
This is the plan, He feels it is ok, but he is giving me some meds to see if it clears in 3 weeks. If it does not clear, he will remove it to be on the safe side of things.
So that is where it is at. I will try not to let it bother me for now. I will wait & see how the meds. work.
take care Diane

Well, it looks like the meds. did not work.
So I am off to the Head & Neck Surgeon on the 29th. He said he would remove it if not gone. Well now it feels like there are 2 bumps !
The idea of this whole thing has me speachless. My mouth does feel like I am talking with cotton stuffed in there. Which I think is dry mounth?
Not sure of how much tongue I will loose this time. Will let you know.
bye for now Diane

Please try your very best to remain calm. The tension of these situations can drain all of the energy and spirit out of you.
My positive thoughts and daily prayers are coming your way.
