I am One Lucky Woman to be on the other side of all treatment. I would like to know, however, about how long this saliva, which I am sure I could use as wallpaper paste, will last. In my case, it seems to go steadily for three days, take a couple off, then come back again.
And one other request: If the answer is "6 months" please do not tell me. (grin)

It started not long ago and I don't know how long it will last. It is good for the teeth as I find mine brake off so am glad for it. I go around with a paper napkin to clean it off my lips. Wish you luck Cath

Last treatment Aug 2nd, real saliva (reduced amount) and functioning taste buds Aug 24th.
I am one Extremely Lucky Woman!
If you are offered IMRT, go for it!!

HMM...22 days. My mother's last treatment is Aug 30, so we'll see how she is doing around Sept. 22. I hope better because it has gotten so bad I'm afraid she is going to choke. She always feels like something is stuck in her throat.
Wish she could have had IMRT but lymph node involvemnt nixed that. Glad to hear it worked for you and best wishes for continued health improvement. Keep us updated - we need the good news!

My wallpaper paste was just about continuous and many nights I could not sleep for having to wipe out my mouth. I felt like I was drowning. I would rate this as much worse than even the radiation burns to my neck and face. I will say that it did taper off to some extent before ending, so it wasn't a complete instantaneous reversal. Please tell your mom there IS an end to it, and the end appears to be sooner rather than later.
