Its over six years since I had cancer in lower left jaw removed, and recent check up has located a swelling in lower right jaw. Surgeon gut feel is good, but he will not take a chance and has decided to operate and remove whatever it is, then biopsy it.
Certainly didn't expect to be having neck surgery again !!! But that appears to be a hazard of the big C.

Have they run any diagnostic scans on the area? I would at least want to see a CT or MRI of the "spot" in question before I went into the OR. You might want to consider a second opinion, always a safe bet.

Andrea has a point. although I know it is different here in the UK, but I would have expected at least an MRI scan, is it a head and neck center with a full oncology team where you are being treated or just a general surgeon?
Wishing you well

Recommendation is by my original surgeon who has so far completed 28hrs on me under general anaesthetic. He considered MRI etc, but said whatever the result was, he would still end up doing surgery, so why not make sure and just remove it. I really trust him, so I have agreed and have surgery on Feb 19th.

Op under GA went okay and two swollen glands removed. One Salivary and one lymph. Biopsy result yesterday was excellent, so we are off to Canary Islands today to celebrate and recouperate.
