Hi!

Penny is feeling like the air thru her nose is not reaching her lungs. She called me tonight and said she didn't feel right. She was feeling like the she wasn't breathing well. She has been spitting contantly and has thrown up on and off from the mucus I guess. She thought she could have been dehydrated. She is going to meet with her Dr. tomorrow to review all this. Anyway she says she was a little light headed this morning and she has dropped some weight she's at 114 now- this is her lowest -she's started chemo again and will be finished with her IMRT on the 8th of DECEMBER--HURRAH! I think she maybe was having an anxiety attack, but was wondering if anyone else had this breathing issue? Thanks

Sarah

Sarah,
I think that if she feels like she's having trouble breathing, the BEST place for her to be, right now, is the hospital. Let the Doctors determine if it's anxiety or something more serious. Either way, breathing is pretty important to all of us, and I wouldn't be waiting until tomorrow

My Father has the same problem right now. He is not able to sleep in nights due to breathing trouble. For him it is Broncospasm it seems. Due to the sticky mucus, which is making this wind pipe to contract, he is having difficulty. He is taking antibiotics right now. Tracheotomy was ruled out for him as his trachea is deeper than normal due to nodules in his neck region.

Thanks,

Krishna

Hi Sarah;
I hope Penny has completed treatment now. I experienced the thick mucous and the breathing issues at night as well. This continued after radiation and is ongoing even at 6 weeks out. It does continue to improve though. A couple things that have helped me. I have used a steam mist vaporizer at night since week 6 of my treatment and also use several pillows to keep my head elevated. These two things (which I learned from others on this site) have helped a lot. Also, I still continue to spit and try to force this thick mucous out which seems to be very prevalent at night and early morning.

Best wishes,

Steve
