Hi all,

Saw an ENT for the scope and palpation etc yesterday. He asked if I have any weakness in the legs, trouble walking up stairs. Does anyone perhaps know the reason why? I do get weakness sometimes but I put that down to my back problems.

Cheers!

Tizz

Hi Tizz

Not exactly sure why he would ask that, except apparenlty one of the supposedly rare side effects of the chemo/rad that everyone seems to get is a syndrome with a long French sounding name I can't remmember but has to do with nerves from the neck to the legs. Mostly people get a tingling feeling in their legs, or feet in my case, or bum in some other people's cases, when they move their head a certain way.

Other than that I can't think of a reason, maybe some of the more knowledgeable folks can.

Hi Bob,

That French thingy is "l'hermittes sign" - I have it and this doctor knew of it, says it is not very common. It happens at times when the radiation is not very well shielded from the cervical. Mine goes all the way down the back, from my head to the soles of my feet. Bizarre feeling :-) This did not appear to have any relevance to what he was referring. Je n'comprend pas!

Cheers!

Tizz
