Mom had her ct scan done today and her PET scan. We will probably get the results of the pet tomorrow. My sister took her today, she said that they will be using IMRT. I know I've seen it here somewhere, can't focus, can anyone please direct me? Thanks. hope you all are doing well! Donna

I have read several pages from the above stated websites pointed out by Brian and Kevin. There is an enormously overwhelming amount of information to read and comprehend. I will have to excuse myself now as "my brain is full"! PS: Kevin, it is "Truly an amazing machine"!

Mom is cancer free everywhere else. I can't tell you how relieved I am. The one thing he did say was that there might be cancer cells in the lymph nodes right beneath her tongue-they showed up med-bright in the scan. He said he was going to overlay the ct and pet scans and radiate from there. At least that is what I think he said. Now I am starting to question myself. I am sooooo happy and feel so blessed. I know there is still a lot ahead of her, but knowing it is contained to that area makes me feel better. I know I've told you all before, I adore my mom, she is my favorite person, best friend. I was so scared. I don't know how I would have managed without all of you. Thanks.
I think now maybe I can re-read what everyone wrote above and maybe comprehend it a little better.

The ct scan is used to show where the uptake is. I noticed that sharlee wrote that they said they couldn't do them both on the same day. I have had all three done in the same machine one right after the other. I would check into this sharlee, one of the things that has caused me prob is not having all the info from the first pet scan to compare with the last two. Unfortunately it doesn't exist but it would have been very helpful. The pet scan shows the uptake but is not the best for showing the exact location, when done with ct it is very accurate at both pre treatment. After treatment it gets a little more difficult. Good luck with all of your mom's treatments Donna.
