I'm hoping to find some info on reconstructive surgery. My 74 year-old mother had surgery to remove a soft palate lesion approximately 1 year ago. At the time the decision was made to do the surgery, the drs mentioned reconstruction. This has been a tough road for her, as it is for all, especially since her dr assured her there would be no speech, swallowing difficulties, etc.

Now she is recognizing that she does need to be more informed before proceeding with the reconstruction.

I've not noticed much info on this site over the year. Is this procedure not common? Is this likely to restore speech and/or swallowing?

Any help or direction would be appreciated!!

Thanks.
