Hi Friends,

Well four IMRT treatments down and 26 to go. I'm surprised how quick the treatment goes. Plus you really don't feel anything yet. I have some tingling in my tongue today but so far no pain. Still inputting 8 to 10 cans of Jevity per day with carnation instant milk powder mixed in. I inject it with the syringe, two cans take about ten minutes. Will I be able to continue that after the side effects kick in? My weight seems to have leveled off. I have put on about 15lbs. since the surgery and hospital stay but I can't seem to gain any more. I am still not eating anything through my mouth, It take foreever and makes my mouth real tired. Sipping on water alot during the day. Take care.

Hi Dan, I remember sitting in the waiting room
after 4 or 5 treatments and hearing other
patients commenting that they were on treatment
#29 or #30 and how they were glad to be getting
over it. Treatment #33 seemed like a long way off.
Before long I was on my #33, and I was seeing
new folks coming in.
I felt my tongue sticking to my mouth after the
first treatment (no kidding) and it went down
from there.
I was also able the syringe with the PEG which
made things a little easier for me. I could be
done with lunch in 5 minutes! Alot of folks
are unable to do that and have to use the drip
method. I put over a gallon of water in each day
which gives your forearms a good workout from
squeezing a 2 oz syringe that much!

Don't let the crud build up in your mouth/throat.
It will cause a gag reflex which will make you
throw up. I also found if I let my stomach get
empty, I would throw up alot. 2 months after
treatments were over, I could eat enough chicken
noodle soup and soggy cereal by mouth to get
the PEG ripped out. Hang in there!
O-O
