Oh, Jim....you know, my Grandma always said 'something good ALWAYS comes from something bad', and Grandma was ALWAYS right about everything...
I don't KNOW WHEN good will happen, but I KNOW that it WILL...
Know that we love you and care about you; praying for the strength you'll need to fight this...We're right here, friend...

I hate to say this but BarbT was right about my offspring. It seems they all want to be near me for now as they did thru the 1st round. My youngest son wants to bring his 2 young ones and spend the weekend with me. LOL I know they have their own lives, families and problems like we all do. He wants to take me out for dinner and won't listen to me about wasting his money on food for me. Just can't eat enough to verify spending his money on food for me. Funny how time can be found when someone has a problem. Good luck all and have a great day.

Jim - I'm so glad you'll have family with you this weekend. You know, going out to dinner isn't just about the food - it's being with people you care about and enjoying their company. And children, especially, are a great distraction when you have other things troubling your mind. Seeing the world through a child's eyes can make you forget your cares for a little while. Children can be very entertaining, too! (You can always get a "take-home" box and pretend you are going to eat it later.) Have a good weekend and enjoy the special moments!

Hi Jim,
Praying for you my friend. You've been on the prayer tree, as is everyone here who I've come to care about.
As for your kids...
I don't know how to explain that one. I see it with my sister and very much with with Eddie's family. Maybe they can't handle it? Fear sometimes leads to poor choices. Give yourself a gift-don't question anything, just embrace them and the time you will share together. They love you I'm sure, and let them know how much you love and enjoy all of them. As Anne-Marie said, it's not about the food...and your son knows that. He probably just needs a 'normal' environment. Do it his way, let him feel a little in control, it may help him. As for you, just be there and let the fun happen.
Lots of love and prayers to you,
Donna

Jim,
My trick for a meal out is to order soup, then ice-cream or similar--forget the entree!
Or I ask for a 'Junior' meal--never been refused yet!
Had some great meals out with my daughter that way last month, she understood and I didn't feel guilty!
And yes, did do the 'can you box that please?' bit as well!
My son hasn't even come, sometimes, when I've been really down,--in fact I last saw him for half a day, beginning of September!-- but am coming to terms with that now--he's coming for New Year and I shall just enjoy whatever time I get to spend with him. I think he's frightened and also blames me for 'bringing this on myself'--who knows what they think???

Take whatever comes your way to build memories--but also remember that friends are an excellent source of support--both real and cyber--I know I'd be lost without mine!

Jim,

The grandkids will help take your mind off of things. My dad and I have had many good chuckles over the last few days talking about things my grandson does. He's only 3 and when he's around we forget about the cancer, even if only for a few hours.

Enjoy your weekend!

Joy

When I had surgery in Aug. 3 of my youngest grandkids wrote me letters. I just found them and read the. Who would ever thing kids ages 6 thru 9 can express their feelings so well it would put tears in your eyes. I hate for them to go thru this again but have no choice. The 9 yr old boy said he was afraid the whole time I was in surgery and cried. letters like that tear me up inside.

I have an idea I will be alone for Christmas. I hope not. Barb is going with me to columbus the 26th , but acts as if I never existed right now. The drive to see my kids and grandkids is just too much to do the day before driving to Columbus. Maybe I should find some old HOBO and bring him home to have someone to talk to and be with. LOL I have never been alone for any holiday and never even gave it a thought. I don't know anyone in this town at all, except for barb and her family, so I am at a loss as what to do. How can anyone be so cruel? I had 7 siblings so you know I am used to people. LOL Sorry for using those shoulders again, but I feel lost.
