Thinking of you Petey. I know you won't feel like writing as often now, but that doesn't mean that we won't be thinking of you. You are strong. You'll do fine.

Petey,

Unless maybe there is a doctor reading this, I doubt the rest of us can make much sense of this, but I'm assuming that you know a lot more about what the drill is going to be by today--of course if you're really in the hospital for days, you won't be able to tell us!

If it turns out they didn't keep you overnight for 5 days, I'm hoping you'll be able to drop a short note and let us know how you're doing.

If even that is too much for you (I still remember feeling I couldn't read words on a computer screen, let alone type something coherent, when I was taking compazine for the chemo-nausea), know that many people here are thinking of you!

Nelie

Hi Petey,
I work as a medical transcriptionist, which means that I type medical chart notes all day. Yours were very difficult to understand but I did my best to translate what might be there and got about half of it. See below. I think you should definitely ask a nurse or doctor to walk through the chart note with you or ask to have a copy of a typed note so that you can read it. I think it is important to have all the details of your treatment. Here's my best guess confused at what you posted:

51 y/o male c recument H&N center on XRT._ being committed to
51 year-old male with recurrent head and neck cancer on radiation therapy being admitted.

He I cycle y chemo c 5 fu/cisply is go to c rellity
[b]Here for?? first cycle of chemotherapy with 5-FU and cisplatin

Hey Petey, thought I would stop by real quick. Oscar is getting Cisplatin once a week for six weeks and radiation 5 days a week for 6-7 1/2 weeks...he does his radiation before going up to the chemo floor. He is handling it ok right now, just hates being in hospital so long for chemo..10 hours today. Makes for a long day, but he is getting like 3 bags of fluid with it. They said that Cisplatin is very hard on the kidneys and they have to keep him flushed. Remember your well needed advice you gave me, "you have to take it one day at a time, and I am here if you need to talk." Keep me posted, know we have both been busy lately.

Husband age 48, diagnosed 5/10/07 with stage 4 mouth cancer, surgury not an option, teeth removed 6/21/07, 5x wks of rad with Cisplatin 1x week for 7-8 week course starting 7/10/07. Update 02/25/08 right maxillectomy and right infratemporal fossa resection

Dear Trimatt

I am so sorry it took so long to get back to you to Thank You for your help.

It has been a nightmare for me with all that has been transspiring.

Your information was so, so helpful, and I knew you spent a lot of time on it. I just can't thank you enough.

This is the first chance I had.

To all others, I opened a cancer blog "BEYOND THE BLUE HORIZON".

Unless responding to someone I will be posting there.

I have a lot of catching up to do. Petey smile
