My brush biopsy results came back today and everything is benign...no cancerous or precancerous cells...this has definately been my wake up call to quit smoking and at 29, it will do me a lot of good to stop now...although I cannot imagine what many of you have been through, you are all very lucky to have a place like this to vent and to get and give support...God Bless all of you!!! | | |

I hope you HAVE stopped smoking now - I gave up younger than 29 and got cancer over 20 years later. Of course quitting is not easy to do. Like many here, I have given up nicotine and gone through cancer treatment. Believe me, the quitting was easier.
Thankyou for letting us know, good news is wonderful.
Love from Helen

Quitting smoking is not an easy undertaking - getting rid of any addiction is tough work. You should check with your doctor and the local anti-smoking groups on recommendations for quit smoking medication and aids.

Now, I hope that you can quit smoking because you know what it felt like to have that panic in the pit of your stomach. You dodged the bullet this time. I any of those white areas are not gone within three months of the day you quit smoking, have them removed by an oral surgeon. Better safe then sorry because, statistically, they have about a 50% chance of becoming precancerous.
Good luck, Barb
