If you read my earlier post I have had this on going problem......I am very confused about the whole thing and I am convinced at this point that I have a serious problem....I have gone to 4 different ENT's and all have given me a different response

Here is the story

I have had a feeling in my throat like something is there and mild sore throat pain that seems to come and go. The feeling is in the back of my throat, just behind my uvula and seems like it is more on the left side. This all started about 3 1/2 months ago.

I must explain that before this started I had some other things go on inside my mouth as well.

First I had an open sore on the left lateral side of my tongue appear. I had it biopsied by an oral surgeon and the result was negative. Shortly After that a growth was noticed further back on the left side of my tounge. This was more like a growth of tissue. I was then sent to an ENT who removed it on April 15 and that biopsy came back negative.

This feeling in my throat started about two weeks after that biopsy was done.

I went back to the same ENT and explained this to him and he thought i was crazy, he scoped me twice after that and said he did not see anything there on both times. I went back to my GP that sent me for a CT scan which came back normal. He then sent me on my way for a second opinion from another ENT. The second ENT said that my left lingual tonsil was enlarged and had a whiteish coating on it and also some mild redness in my throat but that everything was within normal ranges. After expressing concern this ENT said he would biopsy the area to releave my stress so I made the appointment to have this done. My wife was nervouse about me being put under again and wanted me to get another opinion. So I made an appointment with a third ENT which scoped me and he told me that my left lingual tonsil was enlarged and rubbing on my hypopharynx and that was what was causing this sensation. He said if it did not go away he would consider a biopsy.

It was at this point I called Memorial Sloan Kettering and made an appointment with a doctor Singh to get a opionion from a cancer specialist. He scoped me and actually took some pictures. His report said something about tonsiliths more prominent on the left side. He told me that I did not need to have a biopsy and went as far to say not to go back to the ENT who suggested this. He told me it appeared to be possiby allergy related.

His reports stated that if the symptoms did not go away within a reasonable time to return. I dont know what he considers a reasonable time?

A few weeks ago I went back to the ENT that I saw before I went to Sloan Kettering and he sent me for a barium swallow test. The results were fairly normal. No growths or anything like that but it said possible enlargment of the Palatine tonsils. This test also stated that I had moderate acid reflux. This ENT then told me that he believes my Globus sensation is from acid reflux and told me to go back to my GP and to go and see a GI doctor. I have had some relux in the past but nothing to bad and have not had the feeling of reflux within the last few monthts either.

I was put on Prevacid and have not gone back to my GP yet as I am changng insurance. The prevacid does not seem to be doing anything. Though I have not taken it fathfully either.

I then went to another ENT in the same office as the ENT that suggested that I have acid reflux. He scoped me and told me he did not see anything that would make him suspicious of cancer. He told me he thought that aniexty may be causing these symptoms.

So I have had ENT'S tell me acid reflux, allergies and aniexty are causing my symptoms. This is were im really confused. None of them but one have suggested to biopsy anything. I do not want to have another biopsy but i dont know were else to go with all of this.

Lately the sore throat has gotton worse and is there every day. I still feel something in the back of my throat, but that has not gotton bigger at all just the same.

Were should i go from here? If there was something there would they had found it by know? Does my symptoms sound anything like any of you have experienced?

Please help !!

Ps: Im sorry for being such a pain and I have tried to forget about all of this but the symptoms just wont go away

Dino,

You need to seek help from a psychiatrist, ASAP. This has consumed you for far too long! Those of us that were initially undiagnosed did not have the intensive investigation you have had. The Doctor you name in your post is at the top of the field and his advice is correct. Move on, this is a cancer site and you are lucky enough not to have it.

Dino. People here have mentioned to you before that the reflux is a serious problem that can manifest itself in the manner you describe. I have answered the same in your Pm's to me. Reflux is aggravated by anxiety. You are definitely dealing with that. Now you have been given medication that help reflux, but you do not take it with regularity. Combine this with the fact that reflux medications and proton pump inhibitors take a month to even start showing progress and you have shown that you haven't even given the drug time to work. They aren't magic pills that in one day create a solution. Reflux is a chronic problem that requires long-term maintenance. You need to seek counseling. Your doctors, given how many you have seen, are likely not all wrong. The possibilities of someone going through all the tests that you have had, being seen by the different numbers of doctors you have been seen by and all of them missing a cancer is too small to calculate. Glenn is right. Until such time that you have a problem that the people on this board have experience with (cancer) there is little more that any of us can do for you as far as advice. Seeing a mental health professional will likely help you more than anything else. You have posted your history of things here before and had the same response. It's time to move on from oral cancer and deal with the real issues, not the imagined ones that are creating anxiety in you.
