Then went to see radiologist for follow up. He looked at the scans and said that both scans looked good and showed no signs of cancer. He then took his scope and looked at my throat and said there was a little iritation from the radiation but other than that everything looked good. I am feeling pretty good about myself right now as my family and a few friends are very happy for me. My Radiologist Dr. is based at a university and they have had trouble getting hold of a addictive pain specialist to help get off the hydrocodon. Opiad addiction is very bad in our area, I don't know if that's the problem or something else but the Dr. said that I need to ween myself off the pain pills. I have found a some 5-325 hydrocodon in my pill stash and at this time am replacing the 7-325 hydrocodons that I have been taking 3 times a day. I am having very mild with drawl symptoms but nothing I can't handle right now. After a week I think I will use my pill cutter to cut them up and try to take 3/4 of a 5-325 3 times a day and see what happens. Then 1/2 for a week and so on. Does this sound like a good plan? Thank you all for your advice and understanding of this crazy cancer!

You may want to check with your family physician about getting some guidance in cutting back on your pain meds. From what Ive heard about withdrawing from taking opoids a doctor should monitor the patient. Best wishes with your continued recovery ChristineSCC 6/15/07 L chk & by L molar both Stag I, age44 2x cispltn-35 IMRT end 9/27/07 -65 lbs in 2 mo, no caregvr Clear PET 1/08 4/4/08 recur L chk Stag I surg 4/16/08 clr marg 215 HBO dives 3/09 teeth out, trismus 7/2/09 recur, Stg IV 8/24/09 trach, ND, mandiblctmy 3wks medicly inducd coma 2 mo xtended hospital stay, ICU & burn unit PICC line IV antibx 8 mo 10/4/10, 2/14/11 reconst surg OC 3x in 3 years very happy to be alive | | | | Joined: Oct 2008 Posts: 246 Likes: 1 Gold Member (200+ posts) | Gold Member (200+ posts) Joined: Oct 2008 Posts: 246 Likes: 1 | Great report!
A doctor should monitor your step-down plan. Usually the prescribing MD oversees this.

She prescribed Cymbalta which is working pretty good since I have not had a hydrococon. for a bout 2 weeks. Beside being a anti-depressent it aslo can handle acute pain, it has helped me! Now I am takung 2 a day and I feel OK
