Saw docs yesterday and they think his mouth ulcer is infected and that's what is causing the pain. They prescribed an antibiotic, but also scheduled an MRI for Friday morning. Has anyone here every had Rad (36) and Chemo (CarboTax) NOT work for HPV + SCC oropharangeal cancer?

No nodal involvement
Completed 36 Rad and 5 Chemo (CarboTax), Oct. 2014

There is a subgroup of HPV positive patients that do not respond well to chemo and radiation. As yet, they do not test for this. My Husbands BOT tumour was fund again, 10 months post rads and chemo. He went on to have salvage surgery of total Glossectomy and Total Laryngectomy. That was in March 2012. He is alive and well. Tammy

At only 4 weeks post rads he still has a very long road ahead with his recovery. Hopefully its nothing serious and just part of the whole treatment/recovery process.
Sounds like the doc is right on top of things which is a very good thing! Better to do a scan and rule out anything serious.
