There is very little know about this type of tumor and a lot of the treatments are similar to how an oral cancer would be treated (hence how I came across your page). I have had 2 surgeries thus far and 6 wks of injections, but this tumor has a high rate of reoccurance (about 20%). On New Year's Eve I will have the lesion totally removed along with 2-3 of my teeth and a bone graft. There is a 50% chance they will need to wire my jaw shut for 6 wks bc it might be too weak and a 25% chance that the area will be too much of a mess and they will need to remove me jaw bone and replace it with my leg bone. that is wiring for 6 monhts (all during my 30th bday). Has anyone on here had any similar type of susurgeru and would care to share with me?

Hopefully one of them will be a long to welcome you and explain about the surgery. Hugs and welcome.

Im not very familiar with your type of lesion as our group is made up of oral cancer survivors and caregivers. While Im sure your situation isnt ideal, you are very fortunate you do not have cancer!
Try using the search function with typing in mandibulectomy. Thats where the jaw is removed. This should give you an idea of what you might deal with if you need that procedure. Please always keep in mind what you are reading may not pertain to your exact situation as these posts are about oral cancer patients who are facing many other health issues. One big advantage you have is you are young. That factor should help you to bounce back much faster than any other patient on this forum.
As with any surgery, get a second opinion. Remember surgeons cut and when its gone they cant put it back.
