Joined: Mar 2003 Posts: 62 | I am now approaching the 2 year mark from my recurrence (March). However, this week at my regularly scheduled 6 week check-up at the Dentist he noticed a white spot about the size of a grain of rice. He thinks it might be scare tissue, but has never mentioned it before.
The next day my family Doctor confirmed the spot and feels it may be scare tissue as well. But, again he has never mentioned seeing it before either.
I had an appointment with the Head and Neck Clinic for March 3, 2005 but it has been moved to next week thanks to my Doctor.
I am going through all the "What Ifs" again and feeling a bit down. So am I over reacting? Am I being silly? Or is this a valid worry?

Well if you are being checked every six weeks they are not likely to have missed anything, but at the weekend and at 3 in the morning we are all at our worse.
So good they have moved your date to next week, come back and tell us how it went..

I'm sure it was an inadvertent typo, but here's hoping it's just what you typed.. "scare tissue".

My apologies to others who read this and picked up the spelling error. I tried to edit it but was unable to.
And yes I do know the saying "it isn't until they say it is." Just having a hard time getting my mind to go that way.

We don`t for one moment think the nasties are back. You are too much on the ball with your examinations.

Joined: Mar 2003 Posts: 62 | I'm not sure how long it has been there. I really can't feel anything with my finger. I also have very little feeling on that side, so if it hurt I wouldn't really notice it. And I can't see anything because the tongue doesn't move all that easy.
This may sound a bit wacked but to be very honest what made me think that something might be wrong was my cats. Actually one more so than the other has been very interested in my mouth. They kept sniffing at my mouth and no it's not morning breath or bad breath..........:-)
This made me think something might be happening that I wasn't aware of.
Thanks for the kind words and prayers, I will let everyone know what they say as soon as I get the word.

Joined: Mar 2003 Posts: 62 | Good news, it was scar tissue as they had thought. Apparently it was where the failed flap was attached and is just showing some white coloration.
I can honestly say that I was very relieved and let out one loud sigh of relief. I think I even did a bit of the yippee thing as well.
The Head and Neck Team gave kudos to my Dentist and Family Doctor for being on top of things and so do I.
So I will have my next check-up in 3 months and when they tell me all is well I will have made it to 2 years. Will I celebrate? You can bet on it. I may even be exchanging "I Do's" this summer if all goes well.
Thanks again to everyone who had kind words and prayers for a positive outcome.
