I always donate my leftovers directly to my nutritionist. The hospital itself wont take the items but she will and then offer it to her patients who are without insurance. Another alternative is to try a nursing home or assisted living center. Many of the items are also used by the elderly who have eating problems.

Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April. --- Passed away 5/14/14, will be greatly missed by everyone here

There was a real need and my cans had an expiration of a year from now. Anyway, just wanted to let you know that there are options. My hospital or food bank could not accept these.
