The report from the PET just says "increased uptake" and "intense hypermetabolic activity" but has no uptake values listed, and I did not ask. I have CD of the PET, and to me, it looks about the same as the previous cancer on the other side looked on PET. BUT, those are the ONLY 2 PETs I've looked at. :-)
Whatever the result, all will be well. I know I'm fortunate that the previous cancer was found early and that I recovered completely from the surgery.
Que sera, sera.
Happy New Year to all! :-)

... still inconclusive. :-(
According to the report the area may be hypertrophy of a muscle on that side of mouth (opposite of previous cancer), but "tumor in the left floor of the mouth cannot be excluded."
I have not talked to my ENT yet. I asked for a copy of the report myself. I will talk to the office tomorrow to see what is next. Radiologist suggested "clinical correlation with short-term follow up CT," whatever that means. :-)
I have a 6-month follow up appointment already scheduled in March and wonder if he won't suggest I wait until then, and do CT at that time. He has never seemed concerned but wants to be sure nothing is missed. I'm more... um... cautious? concerned?.. due to previous tongue cancer and other "rare" medical issues.
I think I need to win a POSITIVE long-shot, like the lottery! Not this bad stuff. LOL
:-) Teresa

Its just as I thought it would be. He wants to wait until my previously scheduled follow-up appointment in March. Of course, if I notice any symptoms or have any problems, I can call them to be seen sooner.
I'm not worrying about it, but have to admit, I do feel the area a few times a week (trying not to do it daily--LOL), but again, I don't know what "normal" feels like.
In the meantime, its "business as usual" for me. :-) Teresa
