Mickey, since it's friday and you're 3 hours ahead of me I'm figuring you're either all done or will be shortly. Whew!

Congratulations!

Praise the Lord!

Yes David, I am finished.
My Rad OC said that the radiation will be active (or affect me) for about 2 months!

I do have the thick mucus, and stringy saliva. Not sleeping well, as my sinuses are congested at nite. The back upper part of my throat feels like it is blistered and pealing. My neck looks like a wrinkled 80 year old's (I am 55), and it is burnt to almost black and starting to peel.

Barely can drink a swallow of water, but am doing so. Still stretching my mouth as much as I can, but I feel it is a little tighter. Most things smell weird, and some things smell bad and some are still ok.

I hope my smell, taste, and saliva glands return... someday..

But, It is over and I am still alive. My lovely bride has been helping me a lot (when I let her), but I guess I don't want her to think I am an invalid.
Thank you sugar dumplin'

Thank you all on the forum here, thanks a lot !

Mickey

Congrats on finishing this phase but do be prepared for the next few weeks as most of us experience our worst time but THEN you will enter into the recovery phase and it's uphill from that point forward.

Mikey, congrats on completing treatment! One suggestion, strongly encourage you to do the exercises with out fail. If you need more pain management in order to do them, ask for it! Now is the time that trismus will set in, the exercises are your best defense against it. Best of luck, Ana

I found that yawning was a easy way to get those muscles to "fire" and it helped me to open my mouth naturally.

Thank you all. My lovely bride is reminding me also to do the jaw exercises.
So far so good. Still can swallow small amounts of water. But getting main water and jevity via the peg tube.
Mouth is dry and swishing with the baking soda salt solution helps.
Nose is still congested a lot, especially at night when trying to sleep. So that makes me breathe through my mouth which dries and wakes me... The Cold pills and sometimes Effrin is helping.. The nose bleeds are lessening, which I think is due to No More Radiation, and that allows me to blow my nose more..

Still kind of weak, I get up early and then take a nap, crazy.

Thanks All!

I was weak as a kitten for a couple of months post Tx. I remember at one point I couldn't even lift a water jug to put into the cooler. It does get better. Take it easy and do get plenty of calories and water every day. Your body is expending a tremendous amount of energy healing.
