no, but they did it 2 weeks ago, he looked at my throat and nose and said he was cutting the last 2 off. they would have been a separate week, monday and a tuesday.
He said, we are getting it all.

That's great, Mickey. My (non-professional) guess is that you are benefiting from the small size of the primary tumor, the surgery to remove it and its HPV status. Just think - you can happily skip (well, walk, anyway) out of RADS on Friday. Interestingly, your diagnosis profile is the same as my husband's - negative needle biopsy and initial CT scan. Glad they kept investigating and you are now on the road to good health.

Micky/David, the reason may be similar to me last year. I will try to explain. Last November I had some very difficult to understand discussions with my RO because she wanted to cut out my third induction chemo because it would mean that my radiotherapy would start over the Xmas period when I would only get a short week of rads and she wanted me to start well before Xmas. I found this very disconcerting that I was going to get less chemo (in retrospect I would have really suffered with an extra round of TPF) and I couldn't see what the difference would be because I would still be getting rads over the holiday period, though twice a day for 2 days to make up for the public holidays. I was very suspicious that this had something to do with cuts to the health service and shortage of staff! Eventually she explained in detail, which I didn't fully understand, but the gist is that radiotherapy is most effective when given everyday. Weekends off are acceptable to allow the patient to recover, but adding in extra days off reduces the effectiveness. Therefore as in Micky's 2 days at the end, she didn't want me starting with public holidays causing big gaps at the beginning. Someone who understands the physics of radiation may be able to explain this better! Sally

So are you saying that you won't be getting the last 2 but they will have made up for that by increasing your doses before then? Have you asked what total amount of radiation you will be getting without these last 2 days? Just curious.

I had a fever Sunday and call the MO office and it was 100.5, they said take advil/tylenol and if it goes down and does not spike then I should be ok because I have a MO appointment Monday afternoon. (I choked on a pill Saturday and thought I may have asphyxiated pneumonia)
I went Rad Monday and the doc there checked me out and he said prob. not pneumonia, prob from sores and blisters in mouth, slight infection. I told him the MO was going to do x-ray.
RO was correct, the MO did x-ray and not pneumonia, also the MO said since I had only 4 RAD left and I have already done 6 chemos, he said I didn't need the last chemo. (I was feeling very dehydrated and I really felt bad). So I said OK!. He suggested I stay for a bag of fluids, but I wanted to go home a sleep, so I said no, and when home and put almost a liter of water in my stomach tube and within about 10mins felt a whole lot better.
Now I can barley swallow water, but I am doing it, and putting water in my tube a lot.
Don't know how I would get anything in without the tube.

So, did you not do the last rads and the last chemo?

I think there are quite a few of us who do not get in that last Cisplatin dose. I was supposed to have 3 large doses at 3 week intervals, but they cancelled the last one - THANK GOD!! I did all the prescribed radiation treatments.
