Okay. My MO will be starting me on one of three carboplatin infusions this Saturday in conjunction with my Cyberknife.
This will be my third time getting radiation and chemo so I really really really want a knockout punch.
He is willing to discuss adding Taxol (paciltaxel) to my carboplatin (no cisplatin since of the bad side effects and carboplatin is just as good) but I wanted to hear from OCF members on their experience. While I will read any studies posters send me, for me, real life experiences from caregivers and patients who actually had the same treatment are more informative. I know I am guilty of sending out study links when someone asks a question on something I did not have but have read about because I am trying to be helpful. But I also know that my posts on topics I struggled with and overcame (or not) are probably more helpful (like using a suppository instead of laxatives or using seltzer water to break up phlegm or get a TSH test before TX)since they are factual experiences and not doctor's writings. My MO reads those studies already but he does not read the OCF forum.
So Taxol patients: what's the scoop?

Christine

Thanks. I did receive a very helpful Private message on this from the last poster in the world that I would have expected due to our fiery disagreements on the forum. Just goes to show that in the end, no matter what our differences, everyone at OCF does care about helping one another win our struggle against cancer.
