I am definitely going to ask my doc these questions when I see him in April but wanted to know if anyone here had any experience.

I had about 1/3 of my right tongue removed and replaced with tissue from my left wrist. This was done at the end of June 2011. Does anyone have any sensation in the "new" part of your tongue? I swear I can feel a tingling sensation occasionally.

Does anyone have issues with burning(like with hot food) the new part of the tongue easily?

Does the new part of your tongue start to look like the rest of your tongue? The skin from my wrist is obviously a different color from my tongue. When I look at the new part it does look like part of my old tongue is creeping over to the new side along the edges. I don't know how else to describe it but it looks like it is changing color to match the rest of my tongue.

Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

I just passed my 5 year mark a couple of weeks ago and yes, my "new" tongue is VERY sensitive to burning, even 5 years after surgery. I eat most of my food cold because I am always afraid of the burn. I used to experience the tingling quite frequently but not so much anymore.
My "new" tongue is still paler than the real one. That has never changed.
