Hi All,
Things have been going so well. Kris is active and putting on weight.
Then usual checkup and scope 2 weeks ago revealed a small white ulcerated area on the base of his tongue - where the original tumour was. Superficial biopsy showed severe hyperdysplasia, which we are told is normal after radiotherapy to the area. So he has now had a full body CT and repeat deeper biopsy taken yesterday.
The ENT told us he took the whole ulcerated area with the biopsy. There was nothing else to see.. Have to wait til early next week for the results.
I asked about the CT , he told me he needs to review it with the Radiologist as it is difficult to interpret due to the radiotherapy and neck dissection scarring. He did say there was no evidence of secondaries in the lungs .
So, we play the dreaded waiting game. I have been a cot case for the last 10 days. Thank god for Zopiclone ( sleeping tablet).
Our ENT has however referred us again to Auckland Hospital to be reviewed by the whole Head and Neck Cancer Team on the 24th. I'm feeling a bit less gloomy. Fingers and toes crossed.
I hate this,
Tammy

I'm so sorry Tammy. I know exactly how you feel. I'm sure we all do. Kevin has his first PET since completing tx on March 12th. Then on the 15th he has a scope done. We are already nervous about it and it's far away. Can only imagine how hard this is for you.
Know that you are not alone and no matter what we will all persevere. We conquered once we can do it again.
Keep in touch with the outcome.
Blessings,
Kathy

Tammy sorry to hear you are waiting on results. They seem to take forever to come back! Try to stay busy to keep your mind occupied so you dont worry so much. Best wishes with the results!

Hi, Tammy.
The waiting is always the hardest part. That's something that everyone on this forum has in common at some point or another. It sounds like he is in good hands and that the docs/team are right on top of things. Hopefully, it's nothing, but if it is, they will have caught the sucker in it's early stages.

I'm glad that you're able to get some sleep and that you're feeling less gloomy. Don't we all wish that life was like a DVR with the ability to fast forward, rewind, and pause times in our lives?!

Best wishes for some good news,
Kerri

Thankyou all for the supportive positive messages.
This disease just freaks me out so much.
I hate not being in control.
Most of all I hate the notion that Kris and I just may not grow really old together.
My eldest sons Engagement party this weekend so a happy occasion with family to celebrate.
I'll keep posting with our updates/results.
