Hi all
Well I just put Emmett back on the train home and all went almost perfect with his checkup this time. No visual signs of a reoccurance. He also had his peg removed after 14 months! He is one happy man even though it is tough to eat all the foods needed to maintain his weight he adds ensure and etc. to his day. He has found that within a couple weeks of trying he can eat faster and more types of food than he originally thought. So all is good, well almost. His platlets are still very low, 68 (he bruises and bleeds easily) which is not normal , they usually recover within 39 days of treatment so they will be taking blood samples over the next months and if they don't improve will do a bone marrow test in March at our next visit. There is a condition that does happen as a result of chemo. which I wrote down and will research related to low platlets. I asked if it could mean he has developed Lekemia but the Dr. said very unlikely, I think he said counts would be high if he had that. That was a relief. Just hope the numbers go up. Seems like it is always something!! I am still at Mayo with my niece until after Christmas, she is responding well to treatment but it is very rough for her right now (stage 4 cervical) so I am at Hope Lodge once again. Our second missed Christmas - next year will be better!

What a good Auntie you are! In medieval times, 12th Night (after Christmas) was the time for the real celebration - it sounds like you and Emmett will be able to have one of your own. Best wishes for a blessed Christmas with your dear niece.

Karen, I'm so glad to read about Emmett. It must be wonderful for him to be free of the PEG and looking forward to getting back to a regular diet.

I'll keep good thoughts for your niece and glad that she's responding to treatment and that you're able to be with her.

All my best to all of you.
