I had check up today and the surgeon went in to detail about having reconstructive surgery. It's very involved! Taking skin and muscle from my back and a rib connecting it to a vein in my neck and then having a 10 hour op which may leave me with multiple side affects! But I have a year before this can be done so my immediate response was I'll think about it then!
Question for any ob wearers have you flown? My doc said he thought it was not a good idea and he didn't know if it would be alright or be in complete agony due to the air pressure. Has anyone had any problems when flying?
Been a long day also had hearing test which showed a loss and need a hearing aid too! And I missed my works Xmas dinner as I got stuck in London traffic! Wot a day :0

Kevin's hearing is pretty bad too now. He had cistplatin too. Guess we better get it checked closer.

I have flown once since treatment and do not recall any problems. I am now over two years with the obturator, although it has it draw backs, you eventually adjust to some of the "new normal". It doesn't sound like it would really be worth looking into reconstruction from what you described.

hi guys
finally got my new obturator yesterday and i have to say its not the most comfortable thing! I got used to the second one but this one is much bigger and higher so it stops my nose from collapsing any further as i had my septum taken away too! I guess i will get used to it but at the moment its uncomfortable and a bit sore! Im going to try a flight next month just a short one to test my ears etc out fingers crossed it will be ok!
Sorry if i sound like im moaning i dont know anyone else who has an ob or one as big as this! lol
hugs n stuff

Sometimes it takes some getting used to!!!! I don't have experience with an orburator but I can see how the size willl help support your nose as its pushing things back into place! make sure it doesn't cause severe irritation, and hopefully it will begin to feel comfortable wink hugs and good luck on the flight... smile
