and here's a treat, this morning i got a message that someone who cares about my dad wants to visit, and today. they didn't visit before he got sick and get along fine at events where they see each other. i had to explain why that visit right now might upset him as he just learned about metastasis and a random visit now might scare him...it would (and does) me! thoughts? am i being too overly protective?

Take care, Connie

I guess it's the why that is concerning... Try not to be too stressed, you need some time for you... Just to get away for a few hours it may make you less feel. Little better! Hugs and fingers crossed for your dad! Prayers said too!

Unfortunately, it is almost similar to my dad as well. His tongue sore refuses to go, he has a bulge and continues to have pain around his right jaw and under right ear.
I was at hospital last weekend, RO have given him some serious pain killers and something to reduce the swelling. I am just waiting for 13th Dec when he'll have PET/MRI. RO has refused to do biopsy before end of three months so pretty much wait and watch!
My dad is low due to the suspected mets, so I can probably understand your dad's situation as well. Take care of your dad and ask him if he wants to meet and greet people. Father; 67 yrs; RIP: 2012/05/26
