my name is sergio, this is my first post. I have had 2 surgeries thus far to take part of tongue out. the first was in july when i was told i had cancer, the left side was taken out. the second was in august and they took out about half of it out. the base is what is left with a flap from my forearm. but i have had the same pain occur again, the kind that hurts so bad it gives you ear aches. i knew it had come back again. even after them taking 95% of it out and having to chemo treatments. not sure how much is going to be taken out but i hope they take it all out. its really aggressive. I never smoked or dipped before. im 29. I have a family and we want to grow. Im scared. but being so positive, i have no choice but to be.

Hello Sergio:
I just wanted to welcome you to the Forum; I don't know about your type cancer, but there are a lot of others on the Forum with that experience and knowledge who will be joining in to help you. I can offer my prayers that you'll soon find out the solution to your hurting and that you will be pain free. It sounds like you have already been through a lot, but don't give up. Others have had like experiences. Bless you.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having another surgery. Have you had any radiation? It's unusual for oral cancer patients to have chemo without radiation. I wish you a full and speedy recovery.

Because it is an aggressive cancer w/o any risk factors my oncologist wanted to do something different. He started me out with full chemotherapy rounds (2 rounds) prior to starting radiation. Radiation w/low dose chemo will start next week.
