Hi MY name is Cathy and I was diagnosed with oral cancer 10 days ago. The tumor is on my upper gum. My oral surgeon did the biospy and feels it is in the early stages. I have an appt with an ENT surgeon on Fri and really want to make sure I ask all the right questions.

I hope all went well for you? My mother had cancer in the upper gum, but it had gone into the jaw, but she is doing just fine, so if things are in the early stages, sounds as if you have caught it in plenty of time. If you want to read mums story, it is in the intro section, under 'good news for you' all the best su

At these early stages as you enter into this, things can seem dire, but try to stay calm until you know all the facts. Post again when you know what the staging of the cancer is, as there are different treatment issues for each level. Between now and your appointment the best thing that you could do is roam around the main body of the web site and learn as much about things as possible. Be sure that they do a complete work up on you, and this should include MRI/CT scans of your neck and chest in addition to obviously the area where the cancer is located. When you have specific questions after this next appointment, we'll all be here to help you decipher the issues and choices... and we'll all be pulling for you as well.

HI everyone
I was so surprised to a reply to my message after such a long time but thanks.
My cancer has been diagnosed as early stage 1 and has not spread. I just finished my 14th radiation treatment today and I am doing fine. My side effects have been minimal and my Drs have been wonderful.
Again...thank you

I'm sorry that it took so long for any of us to get back to you at a time when you had so many questions. Somehow your post must have ended up at the end of a chain that no one saw. I'm so glad that things are working out well withyour medical team. As your treatmnet progress, issues will come up, so please do not let our bad performance at answering your questions in the past prevent you from trying again in the future.
