I'm now 7 weeks out, iv been gradually feeling better and eating more and tasting more. Since about 4 days when I feel like iv been thrown back 4 weeks so so tired and off my food completely! I may have pushed myself cos I felt so well but my muscles are also feeling really sore and weak too. Is this usual ? I know it hasn't been long but after feeling I was recovering I now feel crap again and would feel better knowing this was kind of normal. Does the ear ringing and deafness get any better or be treatable?
Thanks for any help
Jayne x

Jayne,

I'm three years out and I still have the ringing, its the cisplatin. Opiates also cause hearing loss, if you are still on a pain med it will cause fatigue as well as other physical symptoms that can make life difficult so if the pain is subsiding I would start to scale back.

It also does just take time, your body has just been through the ringer...give it some time. Keep your chin up

My husband had ups and downs for the first two or three months, especially when he overdid. Please make sure you are taking good care of yourself, getting enough sleep, and that you are on track with your nutrition and hydration. My guess is that you will bounce back in a day or two, but if not, remember that it's ok to ring your doc's to ask them! Best wishes and take care.

Thankyou guys
I'm going to take it easy and have hospital app in a few weeks. It's a long road and I guess I'm trying to run before I can walk! The hearing is driving me mad but it's another change I will have to live with.
Thankyou again for being there for me and all the people needing reassurance and answers.

I know it is hard to believe but you will adjust to the ringing. Infact, there are times that I do not notice it unless I concentrate on it. The loss of hearing is a bit more frustrating - but those around me just had to get used to that. Yes, it is a long road - just take it one day at a time and measure your accomplishments for that day and do not dwell on what you percieve as a failure. You can do it!!

Hi Jayne - is it possible you caught a bug? It's true it's very easy to over do it as well - we feel good so we just go go go... Then we hit a wall . Try to do something nice for yourself for the next few days - rest up. If it continues for an extended period of time have it checked out... It may be thyroid issues etc... As for the ringing, that's harder - have it assessed. I'm not sure what if anything can be done but you should mention it to your dr. I too had buzzing for a while after treatment but it was infrequent and hasn't been back for a while. I'm Also 1.5 months ahead of you so maybe it will eventually settle down - the deafness hopefully that will resolve itself... Your body needs time to heal... Though I've heard some hearing loss can be an issue. Take care! smile and take some done time if needed!
