That is awesome now breath!!! I think because this is his second dance with cancer he may end up with radiation and chemo. It won't be easy but you guys can get through it. Just think of it as insurance if he has to go through it. Take care and many blessings

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to say hi and thank you so much. It's been the shortest 2 weeks I can remember. My dad is healing and for our surprise he walked the first day after surgery and looks so so much motivated and now that he can talk jokes around a lot and is very funny as he usually is so I am very happy. His oncologist said they got clear margins so I am very happy, even though I feel after his recurrence my worries will last for a long time I hope I can find a way to get around them and enjoy each day instead. He had a trach and still has the feeding tube but they are planning on removing both soon because they said he is doing well and can come home this Friday (maybe) which is great. There are many things going on but I guess for now these are the most important to point out.

Cheryl, you were right he is going to have to go through radio and chemo, which makes me happy too and anxious at the same time. Today I asked and his doctor said that his treatment will probably start 4 weeks or so after he leaves the hospital.

Thank you all for your wishes, they really help my dad feel better. It's amazing not to see him depressed like, instead he is acting as very busy businessman. Walking here and there, making sure he does what he needs to do to recover soon. I will print all the new postings.

He also wanted to wish you the best and ask how low will his forearm will take to heal and if anyone knows... ?

Thank you to each and everyone one of you for being there for us.

Love,

Benfry

Heal....? Well mine is healed - it was about a month after - but it's Still ugly!! I'm so glad your dad is doing well and motivated - best to pack on pounds and eat as much as he can between now and rads!!! Rads is no walk in the park but if he's motivated and strong he'll do okay... Tell him to stay positive - it's half the battle. Hugs and healing vibes to you both!

Benfry - It's so good to hear how well your Dad is doing! He really sounds like a great guy. His humor and positive attitude I'm sure are helping you and everyone in his family. Keep that good feeling going for you, too and don't let the worries crowd out the all the good things you and your Dad have going for you!

Hi Benfry!

Your post made me smile! I'm happy for you, your dad and your family that he's doing so well! Your dad's attitude is so bright and cheerful that I can feel it all the way across the many states between here and New Jersey! I'm sure it's great to have him behaving like his usual self. He is amazing...and so are you!

Thank you for letting us know how it's going! We're all still here for you and your dad as he continues on his path from patient to survivor. May it continue to go well for him!

Love,

Sandy

Hi everyone...

I am just feeling terrible again...

There is new activity showing up in the area of the surgery and probably in the nodes too... He is having a PET scan on Thursday and will confirm all this. He had 2 MRIs, one of the oral cavity and the other for the neck on sunday.

He will be on Cisplatin..

Chemo and rad start sometime next week finally... </3 ugh... frown
