Joined: May 2009 Posts: 1,412 | <y Medical oncology appt. is tomorrow for check on blood work and some other things. Plan on asking him a few questions about a hard lump in my left knee. PET scan is scheduled for July 6th. I hate the nerves that come with waiting for that lovely test. MY ENT had to remind me that it is just a tool that is used and sometime gives false positives like last December, but still have to be checked out.
On a good note, I spent 4 days out in the heat with my kids at cub scout day camp. Thursday I went on a 4.5 mile hike with my oldest son. He really enjoyed me being with him, but boy was I tired at the end of it. I was so excited to have accomplished something that big since everything has gone on.

David R. 65 yr old male non-smoker, light drinker, stage 3 or 4, depending on which doc you ask, scc rt. tonsil, 2 nodes, 7 weeks radiation and chemo. No surgery. Teatment ended 3/20/08. PET scan 8/08 showed no cancer.
And now, as of oct, 2010, caregiver to wife, Linda, with breast cancer.
May, 2013, Linda diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. Enuf already.

SCC right ventral tongue Dx 4/11.
T1N2M0
1st resection 5/11.
Bilateral neck dissection: 2 pos nodes
2nd resection w/graft 6/11.
Erbitux x 11 completed 9/11. IMRT x 30 completed 8/11.
3 month MRI and PET/CT all clear.
6, 9, 12 and 24 month post treatment MRIs all clear.

Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 571 | I hope it goes well! You are a very busy mom! I'm so glad you are enjoying individual time with your oldest son. I tell ya, it goes by wayyyy tooooo fast!!! 2/3 of my boys are out of school and in college this fall. That leaves the last 1/3 with 6 more years until he's out of high school. I'm thinking it is going to go by in the blink of an eye.

Ex-spouse MISDIAGNOSED with SCC-HN IVa 12/10. Tonsils out 1/11. 4 teeth out 2/11. TX Erbitux x2, IMRT x2 2/11. 2nd opinion-benign BCC-NOT CANCER 3/11. TX stopped 3/11. New doctors 4/11. ENT agrees with 2nd opinion 5/11. ENT scoped him-all clear 7/11. Ordered MRI anyway. MRI 8/22/11 Result-all clear.

Retired Dentist, 59 years old at diagnosis. SCC of the left lateral border of the tongue (Stage I). Partial glossectomy and 30 nodes removed, 4/6/05. Nodes all clear. No chemo no radiation 18 year survivor.
