Woo Hoo he's gonna fight! Thanks to all the postings I printed out and he read them today and was not even mad at me for printing them. I thank you all for all the positive responses, I think that is what has helped him make his decision. And me too of course! Will update when it will be scheduled.
Hugs to all!!

Great news. All those positive posts did the trick. let me know if Ron waffles or gets disheartened so we could go to plan B: spell out just how horrible and foolish the consequences would be if he had not chosen so wisely. Tell Ron I'm awarding him one of my imaginary medals for stepping up to the plate.
Of course with a caregiver like you, Ron would be a sorry excuse for a man not to want to live. Obviously he is not.
Seriously, choosing the surgery was one of the hardest decisions I ever made, knowing that I risked both speech and swallowing, yet it was the right one. I'm so glad the other posters here said the right things to sway Ron.

Dear Suez,
I am so glad for you and especially for Ron! Congratulations! I'll be pulling for him and keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers.

You and Ron are lucky to have survivors out there to turn to for information and support. Hearing from the survivors who have gone through the surgery is the needle on the compass. Ron can be confident he is going in the right direction!

Sending a hug, a kiss, and lots of smiles!

Sandy

PLEASE don't take this the wrong way BUT if Ron does have the surgery and continues smoking and drinking won't the cancer come back? Unfortunately the only way he will quit either is when he is ready to. I can't imagine how difficult it is for you to watch someone you love be on such a destructive path. I pray he "wakes up" and chooses life and living over death.

Me too Slim...me too. If he don't do it this time, I'm going to kick him out of my house. I won't watch him do that to himself again after going thru surgery. He is an addict period, addicted to Nicotine and Alchohol and needs help that I can't give him and if he doesn't choose the right thing after this I will not watch him go down.
