Has anyone experienced upper back pain from 5FU? Jim had his second cycle of Erbitux, Carboplatin on Thursday and is still wearing the 5FU pump. He is experiencing the upper back pain that he had with his 1st cycle that the doctor felt must have been muscle pain. The pain is so bad he tosses and turns and nothing is helping. I think it must be from the 5FU as he didn't have this with Cisplatin.

Hi, Gerri, my father had alot of pain during his 4 days and after with his 5-FU infusion but he also got a shot in his arm intrmuscular to help increase his WBC's and they said it would make every bone and muscle ache and it sure did. Do you know if your husband got a shot too? Sorry to hear he is in such pain does anything help? Meds?

If your Jim lost a lot of weight like I did, he doesn't have much meat or muscle left in his upper back. I use the heavy rubber cords that poeple use for exercising and thy seem to help. It might make him a little sore until his body gets used to them tho.

Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.

He did get a Neulasta injection following his last cycle so I'm guessing it must be a combination of all of the above. Thanks for the calming advice!
