My husband, is now 2 years post diagnosis of stage III SCC tonsil with RND and chemoradiation. He has been complaining of hearing "crickets" which seems to be getting louder. This was one of his first complaints prior to diagnosis. The noise never left completely, but seems to be getting worse. He also has developed small bumps on his neck on the side where his dissection occured. Of course they itch and he has scratched them. He has been applying lotion, but does not seem to help. He had helped with some insulation in the summer and I thought maybe that was part of the problem, but it continues. He has been cancer free up to this point. He did not have clear margins at the time of the surgery. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have sinus problems and when they get really bad I hear a very slight 'chirping' noise. Maybe a humidifier would help since its winter and dry heat aggravates things like this. If you are concerned it has something to do with his cancer then try taking him to one of his specialists like the ENT. Hope he feels better soon. It goes away for some but not for others and it can come and go. Sometimes it gets deafening loud for me and other times it is just an annoyance.
I see you are in Ohio. OSU has a LIVESTRONG Survivorship Center of Excellence. I don't know how far away that is but they may be able to help with non-cancer issues. The first step is to make sure PET scans are done regularly based on NCCN guidelines, in my opinion to make sure the cancer has not reappeared.
