Once a harridan, always a harridan!
Try and relax over the weekend Liz, the forecast is quite good--a bit of gentle gardening maybe?
Or relax that back in the bath--without feeling for lumps!
Is your mum going with you on Monday?

Thanks kevin now can you please explain BBQ more clearly. In England BBQ as well as being an abbreviation for barbrcue is used to describe the flavour of a type of sauce!!!

Hi Bren, and thanks for the support. This lymph node is making my jaw just in front of my ear ache like mad,and is still very tense and swollen over my collar bone, and yes,it is very difficult not to keep poking and touching it.

We are having a family party tomorrow for little Josies first birthday so i am sure that will keep me occupied.

Are you off to the caravan this weekend?

love liz

I just want to say how much i admire all you great people who live daily with the mental anguish of your diagnosis and waiting for test results and news on after treatment sucess.

My heart is racing,i am sweating and feel sick, and i dont even go for the scan til 5.15 tonight.I am very very frightened, more so because my recent experiences tell me i cant go through anything like Robin did.I just dont have what it takes. All i can think about is my Mum and my children, and what it will do to them if this turns out to be anything to worry about, and the fact that i am made to be a carer but not a patient, and without Robin to hold my hand,i just dont want to put even one foot on the pathway he trod so very bravely.

I so wish i had a real close friend to come with me or even to talk to,you guys are great but so far away.

Hell i hate feeling so weak and feeble minded.

I wish I was nearer to you, I would have come with you. (Mind you when I'd finished quizzing everyone on what they are doing and why, you would have wished I'd stayed at home laugh )
Will you get the results today?
Just remember that whatever you have to do; you will do.
Anyway stop getting to far ahead of yourself lady. lymph glands swell for all sorts of reasons, most of them not bad. When I had my last op I had a bad reaction to the dispersible sutures.. NOW when I found that I had to be scraped off the ceiling.
NOW LISTEN LADY.. IT'S NOT TO LATE TO ASK SOMEONE IN THE FAMILY TO COME WITH YOU..
Sorry for shouting, but maybe then you will hear what I'm saying.
Sunshine.. love and hugs
Helen

Hi Liz, bpy did you as a question

I understand that in Britain, barbecuing is typically a fast cooking process directly over high heat, while grilling refers to cooking under a source of direct, high heat (which is known in the US as broiling). In the US, however, grilling refers to a fast process over high heat while barbecuing refers to a slow process using indirect heat and/or hot smoke.

Most here in the southern US consider barbecue to include only relatively indirect methods of cooking over charcoal, with the more direct high-heat methods to be called grilling (with charcoal or propane gas). BBQ also uses woods mixed in with the charcoal. Woods commonly selected include mesquite, hickory, maple, pecan, apple and oak depending on the flavor you prefer.

Each Southern area has its own particular variety of barbecue, particularly concerning the sauce. The Carolinas, for example, tend to prepare tangier vinegar based sauces. Barbecue in Georgia and Tennessee is almost always pork or chicken served with a sweet tomato-based sauce. Popular in Memphis is the pulled pork sandwich served on a bun and topped with cole slaw. Pulled pork is prepared by shredding the pork shoulder after it is barbecued. In some Memphis establishments meat is rubbed with dry seasoning (dry rubs) and smoked over hickory wood and without sauce. The finished meats are then served with the sauce on the side, hence the term dry BBQ (my favorite dry ribs).

In Texas, home of beef barbecue, the meat is often eaten with no sauce at all so as not to distract from the natural flavor of the meat in question.

Here in Memphis The World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest is held annually during the Memphis in May festival. The Championship BBQ Contest has people here from around the world. This year, we had entries from 49 states and 8 foreign countries.

So you see, it is truly a lifestyle!

Liz

You can do this, we ALL go through those feelings of fear and aniexty and thinking we can't face it ..we do I swear. ANd the thought of having to tell of face our loved ones is almost unbearable. BUt somewhere inside ourselves comes a person we didn't even know exsited a strength from within that gets us through .

You 1st however need to take a deep breathe and one step at a time......and get the ultra sound ..then the results..then react ..sooo sooo much easier said then done ..don't I know .

The fact of everything you have just been through .....for that I am sorry , but I also believe you will find more strentgh then you will know. And I believe he is standing there and walking with you every step of the way .

I wish to that I was closer As I would glady go with you and hold your hand and even cook you my version of BBQ ..However I am NOT from the SOUTH so you wouldnt get the TRUE effect of the WORD !!!! PLease keep us informed and know that In heart and soul we are all standing beside you and holding you in our hearts !!

Hi Liz,
I feel awful because I'm 'so near yet so faraway'!
Don't trust myself at the moment to do more than about 10 miles.
I've been thinking of you since about 5 O'clock and wondering how you've got on.
Was your appointment at St James or the Infirmary?
Did you get results there and then or have you to wait again??
Let us know how it went,
Love Bren
