Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 446 | We laid my Father to rest today...I had the amazing, and humbling experience of carrying his ashes to his final resting place this afternoon.
It weighs heavily on me...the honor of carrying the man who carried me as a child, helped me though all of the difficulties a child experiences, and those that a man experiences as a young man, not quite adult, but more than a child..yet he helped me through them.
I will miss him every single day. He was a fine, honorable and humble man. My world is lessened by his passing, yet imeasurably enriched by his being a part of me.
The Honor I felt this afternoon will never be surpassed. I have lost my Hero: he has passed from our lives, on to a better one. I miss him nonetheless. I always will

Recurrence June/07 died July 29th/07.

Bob age 57, non smoker,non drinker, ended treatment on 11 Nov 2007 and started back to work on 29 Nov 2007. Veterans Day 2012 the Battle was lowered, folded, Taps was played and the Flag buried as I am know a 5 year survivor. Semper-FI !!!

CG to Mom, dx 4/25/07 with tongue cancer,T3N0,tx began 7/6/07, 31 tx's of IMRT, 8 cycles of Erbitux. Brachytherapy, surgery, left neck dissection and temp trach placed all on 9/17/07, trach removed 10/17/07. ORN of jaw, late effect of radiation symptoms. **lost my beautiful mother on 5/5/11.
