Aunt diag. 2/4/10 with SCC Stage I/II on left side of tongue. Surgery 2/19/10 part. gloss./neck diss. on left side/free flap from chest muscle. TI/II,NO,MO. Clear margins with perineural invasion. Started rads 4/8/10 - 35 treatments, finished 5/26/10.

Thanks for all the well wishes. Thank you Margaret for keeping people updated. FB is a wonderful tool.

I came home yesterday afternoon. Of course Im still in quite a bit of pain. There is a drain coming out of the back of my head. Luckily I dont have feeling in that area. From what Ive been told, the operation was very successful. I look almost how I did before I got sick in 2007. In a couple days I will be brave enough to take a look. My sore shoulder seems to be better now too as he loosened my neck in some places which gives my more function in my left arm. My doc even covered over a spot behind my ear that I was struggling to heal for the past couple months.

Now I just gotta concentrate on healing. Im doing my tube feedings and adding a scoop of protein powder which boosts my protein intake by 25 grams. Sorry, David but Im not quite up to helping you yet. In a few more days I will be feeling much better and will be back to helping people.

Christine. This good news and the way you say it has me woth a big contented smile coming your way, You get em girl and I hope the recovery period in a short one as you sure deserve a break


Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.

Age 58 at Dx, HPV16+ SCC, Stage IV BOT+2 nodes, non smoker, casual drinker, exercise nut, Cisplatin x 3 & concurrent IMRT x 35,(70 Gy), no surgery, no Peg, Tx at Moffitt over Aug 06. Jun 07, back to riding my bike 100 miles a wk. Now doing 12 Spin classes and 60 outdoor miles per wk. Nov 13 completed Hilly Century ride for Cancer, 104 miles, 1st Place in my age group. Apr 2014 & 15, Spun for 9 straight hrs to raise $$ for YMCA's Livestrong Program. Certified Spin Instructor Jun 2014.
