You start early in your area. Kids here start the Fri. before Labor Day (a wasted day, imo, but you gotta get those days in).

Marginal mandibulectomy 6/17/08 resulted in DX of Stage I SCC - gingiva (3 mm) right mandible, buccal side. Clear margins. Occasional social drinker. Smoked last cigarette in 1979. Clear pet: 12/08; 7/20/09. Yay!

It hasn't even been a year since your Tx ended so please be patient as this recovery can take every bit of 2 years. I remember my first year post Tx as the most challenging but it will get better. Also watch out for thyroid problems that is fairly common with our Tx. Mine crapped out 4 months post Tx. Check out hypothyroidism and it's symptoms. A simple blood test can help make a diagnosis.

Age 58 at Dx, HPV16+ SCC, Stage IV BOT+2 nodes, non smoker, casual drinker, exercise nut, Cisplatin x 3 & concurrent IMRT x 35,(70 Gy), no surgery, no Peg, Tx at Moffitt over Aug 06. Jun 07, back to riding my bike 100 miles a wk. Now doing 12 Spin classes and 60 outdoor miles per wk. Nov 13 completed Hilly Century ride for Cancer, 104 miles, 1st Place in my age group. Apr 2014 & 15, Spun for 9 straight hrs to raise $$ for YMCA's Livestrong Program. Certified Spin Instructor Jun 2014.
