This is an update about Pete D, my dad.

We have entered round four of cancer. We found out last monday that he has an inoperable and cancerous tumor in his throat. He has not decided yet on whether or not to pursue chemo. We are still waiting for an appointment with an oncologist to know more details as to "how long" and what stage.

We currently cannot ask his opinion on the matter as he is recovering from a surgery he underwent on a completely different matter. He rolled out of bed late last wednesday night and fractured his neck and broke two ribs. He was already in a very frail, delicate state so the two foot fall to the ground did some serious damage. He is currently heavily dosing morphine so we don't really know how he's feeling. Keith (his son, my brother) flew out friday morning and we have no information to offer as it is a holiday weekend and the doctors just aren't around or are busy with car crashes. It is unknown at this point how long he will be in the hospital and whether he will be moved to a "skilled nursing facility" or to hospice or to home with a hospice nurse. We hope to get him home again.

For the moment he is in Seattle at a hospital called

Harbor View, 7th Floor East, Room 705

if you wish to send him flowers or teddy bears or just your thoughts and good wishes. If you have been in contact with him via email, he has not checked his email in some time.

Odile, I am so sorry to hear about your father. He is well loved here on OCF. I had been wondering why we hadnt heard from him in a while. Thank you very much for posting this. Please give a full address so we can send him cards, flowers, etc. If you feel more comfortable giving his address to me, I can give it to those who ask privately. I will send you a private message. Prayers are already on their way.

Odile

What a thoughtful daughter you are to join OCF in order to post an update about your Dad. Christine is right that your father has been a beloved poster. He is one of the few who continues to endure a feeding tube and understands my complaints.

Words are inadequate - I'll try prayers.

Pete,

We love and miss you. Please come back to us soon.

Odile,
Thanks for letting us know about your father's situation. He is a great person and he helps many here with their questions, and with his support.
I hope you don't mind if I add the following information so that OCF friends can send him an email of support to the hospital. When he wakes up, someone will be able to let him know we are thinking of him.

Please keep us updated!

Catherine

Catherine, thank you for posting this info. Right now, Pete is unable to communicate so please no calls.

I love hospitals that are up to date and have email access. When I was held hostage for 2 months, I received so many online cards. It really lifted my spirits, now lets show Pete how much we care about him.

PLEASE take a minute and send Pete a get well wish, see the above post. If anyone wants to send something to his home address, please PM me. His daughter has sent me the info.

Most of all ....Get Well Pete!!!!!!

Best wishes and get well Pete from your friend in Australia!!
Just checked back on our last wall to wall on FB which was on February 28th. We were talking about the well being of Pete's pets. Don't know if it was Huey, Dewy or Louie.
Thanks Odile for letting us know. I hate to see that it is now Round Four and will send an email to the hospital.
Please keep us posted.
Love
Gabriele
