the RO said that his treatment would start again on MARCH 8. she said it would ONLY be 5 IMRT X 2 carboplatin.
i do not think that 5 more is going to effect him too much. i know he will be fatigued, maybe nauseous. i hope i am right in assuming this since this is what i am telling him to keep him from freaking.
he has made a remarkable recovery. eats 100% orally, all kinds of foods--even steak even though taste buds arent great. weened off of pain meds completely. talks easily (and being a new yorker--really fast and loud lol) grin. helps around the house, little stuff but 100% more than before).
i am extremely happy with his progress. as much trouble as he had with treatment...i thought he would be in for a loooong recovery. he is still very weak but getting stronger each day.

He can eat now?? How awesome is that. I am still having issued with swallowing. Hurts like the dickens and still choke sometimes. I do not think that 5 treatments wills effect as much now either since he has recovered so quickly.

Teresa, I admire him for being able to eat and especially the STEAK. I can gum the fat tail part until the flavor is gone and then spit it out. He's one of my heros

Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.

Theresa, I was so glad to read this post and hear how Andy is doing. As a New Yorker, I'm particularly glad to hear his voice will be in yelling form when the yankees are back on the field...

oh susan, he will yell at that posts cause he is METS all the way lol!
yes, he is eating...anything and everything--a little slower than before but thats ok. i am pleasently shocked and suprised each day. no mucous cups. no pain other than slightly bothersome. his tastebuds are not there yet, eats most things on memory. dry mouth is still a problem. still alot of weakness.
i couldnt have begged for a quicker and better outcome. hes my hero too!!!
