Joined: Jul 2008 Posts: 17 | Sadly, my mother did not survive her battle with oral cancer and I am looking for a grief support group to help with my grieving process.
Can anyone recommend an online group, or has anyone had luck with a local cancer society group?
I have found one online group that I have enjoyed being part of: Cancer Care Online... but I would like to find something more.

Diagnosed 7/2008 with T3or4N3cM0, squamous cell carcinoma.
Completed induction chemo (TPF) 8/08 and radiation/chemo 11/08. Successfully removed tumor via neck dissection 9/09 and went home from hospital in good spirits.
Joined the Lord Oct. 2009.

You can go to www.gildasclubgreaterwashington.org to see if they have what you are looking for. Last summer, I went to Gilda's Club in New Jersey. Great bunch of people. Many hospitals offer bereavement groups as well. Take care of yourself. Anita

Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 1,940 | The best bereavement support and help you can get is provided by hospices.They have full time counsellors who really are wonderful.

Husband Robin aged 44 years Dx 8th Dec 2006 poorly differentiated SCC tongue with met to neck T1N2cM0 Surgery and Radiation.Finished TX April 2007
Recurrence June/07 died July 29th/07.

Thanks for the suggestion, Cookey! My mother wasn't in hospice, so I didn't think to contact them.
I called my local hospice and immediately signed up for a group of adults that have lost a parent to cancer.
