I completed treatment 11/3/09 for stage 3 Sqaumous cell cancer of the right tonsil. life is just now getting back to normal. With the exception of a little dry mouth, and a runny nose they are starting to get back to normal. Had my feeding tube removed today.

Im sure you will be able to help many others who are behind you on their journey. Congrats on being free of the tube. Its a great feeling of accomplishment when that thing is gone. Not to mention you can stand up straight and sleep on your stomach now. Best of luck with your continued recovery.

Age 58 at Dx, HPV16+ SCC, Stage IV BOT+2 nodes, non smoker, casual drinker, exercise nut, Cisplatin x 3 & concurrent IMRT x 35,(70 Gy), no surgery, no Peg, Tx at Moffitt over Aug 06. Jun 07, back to riding my bike 100 miles a wk. Now doing 12 Spin classes and 60 outdoor miles per wk. Nov 13 completed Hilly Century ride for Cancer, 104 miles, 1st Place in my age group. Apr 2014 & 15, Spun for 9 straight hrs to raise $$ for YMCA's Livestrong Program. Certified Spin Instructor Jun 2014.

No surgery, no PEG
Never smoked
Drink socially (brew my own beer and love wine. A bottle of scotch lasts me a couple of years)
CT 11/4/09 No sign of envolvement in Tonsil or nodes

Joined: Jun 2009 Posts: 875 | Welcome to the forum Steve. Mine was right tonsil, too. You certainly will learn a lot from the others here - I do. I get more information from them than I get from my doctors. We're lucky to have found this forum. Keep all informed, and when another symptom/problem arises, check out the forum and I bet you can find others who have had the same problems, and their solutions. Good luck.

Julieann Nov 2007 SCC on right tonsil following tonsillectomy. Was smoker, QUIT. (Stage IV T2 N2b) 7 weeks radiation one day/wk chemo (carboplatin and 5-FU). Allergic to Taxol; PEG in, lost 30 lbs. TX completed January 2008. PEG out mid- 2008. David R. 65 yr old male non-smoker, light drinker, stage 3 or 4, depending on which doc you ask, scc rt. tonsil, 2 nodes, 7 weeks radiation and chemo. No surgery. Teatment ended 3/20/08. PET scan 8/08 showed no cancer.
And now, as of oct, 2010, caregiver to wife, Linda, with breast cancer.
May, 2013, Linda diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. Enuf already.
