Hi Everyone:
I was wondering if it would be wise to get the Swine Flu Vacine. I am just 2 months out of treatment so my immune system is still compromised. In fact, during the 1st month I got a case of the shingles.

Sandy...
Ask your medical oncologist. Flu shots arent available til October (in PA). There is also such a thing as a shingles shot. Covered by insurance if you are over 50, otherwise its several hundred dollars.

sandy,

I also had Shingles and I also found out for the first time that there was shot that could have prevented it but the horse pills they gave me knocked it out fast and I never did get the shot.

Sandy

I got shingles before the Cancer but was lucky enough to spot it in time to get the anti viral medication that cut it short.
Still painful. My doctors all said before that the flu shot was okay but I have not asked about the swine flu. I did not bother as our son is in college and my wife gets the flu shot.
Good question, and I will definitely ask my doctors in September and post their answer.

Charm:
I also got the same medication to cut short the Singles. It cost $198 but well worth it.

I've never had to worry before about a virus. I homeschooled my son and my husband has his own business, so we've haven't been sick with the cold or flu for years.

As you know, this area has quite a lot of new immigramts. My son will be going to high school this year and info from the school stated that they have students from 139 countries.

My son knows to take extra precautions because of my illnes, but I'm still quite worried about viruses (especially swine) this year.
