Like Cathy, I had my neck dissection before rad and chemo because I had a different diagnosis, but it was really the least of everything I went through. I looked like the bride of Frankenstein for a short while but it healed very quickly and there wasn't that much pain. It seems to me your ENT is being aggressive and cautious in recommending this, which i think is for the good.
