I also have a lot of scar tissue between tongue and flap.
This is mostly along what I call the seam but more at the front tip which rubs on the last tooth at the bottom.
4 teeth where removed to anchor the flap and it�s the 5th tooth that the �seam� rubs on.
I have had biopsies on the area for the last 5 years which come up clear for cancer.
Last biopsy (2 areas for the first time) in January showed mild dysplasia front but mild-moderate near the tonsils.
I will need to keep having yearly checks and most likely biopsies.
I mention this mainly because most of your signature could be mine Sally...except for age..55 at dx smile

History Leukoplakia bx 8/2006 SCC floor mouth T3N0M0- Verrucous Carcinoma.
14 hour 0p SCC-Right ND/excision/marginal mandibulectomy 9/2006, 4 teeth removed, flap from wrist, trach-ng 6 days- no chemo/rad.
6 ops and debulking (flap/tongue join) + bx's 2006-2012.
bx Jan 2012 Hyperkeratosis-Epithelial Dysplasia
24cm GIST tumour removed 8/2013. Indefinite Oral Chemo.

1/31/16 passed away peacefully surrounded by family
