so husband lost his job of 23 yrs a few weeks ago. My new comment is that cancer was nothing in comparison to this. Cancer was horrible, I"m not downplaying it one bit but at least he kept fighting and won. He is staying in bed or sitting and watching TV and drinking all day long, doing nothing productive. This has gone on for weeks. He has had one interview but his son says he needs to accept he won't make as much money and apply for jobs. It's like he's waiting for something wonderful to fall in his lap.

yikes! I wasn't completely recovered from the toll on me getting him through cancer and now we wait.......

besides the depression he has had for as long as I have known him, did anyone else find that that picking oneself up after cancer was difficult to do? I don't have depression, never dealt with cancer, but have lost a job and left a career I loved and mourned the loss. I"m kind of a warrior type so I'm not knowledgeable about depression and how it affects a person long term.
